I started career in 1993 after graduating with a B-Com degree as a Bank Examiner for the Reserve Bank of Botswana. I was promoted in 1996 to a managerial position.i am not a financial management expert having experience in strategy development and implementation, policy development, strategy and projects, budgets, forecasting, internal and external audits, reporting to Management, Board of Directors and other stakeholders.
I have Board of director experience having served in several boards and also being chairman of the finance, risk and audit committees.
I have demonstrated repeated success in directing the organisation’s leadership, developing long-term strategic plans, and formulating operational strategies along with policies to achieve operational excellence. Demonstrated record in spearheading cross-functional teams to complete large-scale projects, transitioning strategies into achievements and defining organizational vision, mission, objectives, roadmaps, and milestones to accomplish short- and long-term goals. Adept at managing internal audits to cultivate a culture of a sound internal control systems, safety, and good governance. Procedures to maximize performance as well as staff training and development to enhance team skills.
I have a Doctorate in Business Administration on Aviation and developed a framework to turn airlines to long term profitability. I also hold a Master Degree in strategic management and am a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants having attained CIMA in the year 2000

• Establishing effective partnerships with other Business units
I was appointed as a Finance Manager designate (to localize the Finance manager position)
My responsibilities included:
- Daily maintenance of accounting records (checking creditors and bank reconciliations;
signing cheques etc)
- Preparation of Management accounts (monthly management pack and year end accounts)
- Planning, budgeting and forecasting (Budgeting) and monitoring of variances on a monthly
basis
- Daily and monthly management of cash book and bank reconciliation
- Fixed Asset management (updating asset register and reconciling it to general ledger)
- Weekly cash flow forecasts
- Treasury Management (mainly transferring funds between accounts in view of exchange
rates). Monthly liaison with local banks to get a better rate to pay for our imported products
and during periods of sporadic exchange rate movements, deciding on simple hedges such
as spot or forwards or even opening a foreign currency account so we are not exposed.
- External relationships i.e. with bankers; auditors ( both audit firms and Govt VAT auditors)
- Stock taking (participates in quarterly and year end stock takes)
- Staffing, training, disciplining, appraising and supervision of finance and administration staff
- There were 32 staff members in the department, indirectly reporting through their three
supervisors to both the finance manager and myself
