  • Managing the Fund Administration P&L to ensure funds profitability - managing pricing, income and expenses
  • Driving the Bank’s Climate Finance Strategy, sourcing its funding and integrating it into the Bank’s Credit and Product Development processes

  • Assets & Liabilities Management (ALM) - (Analysis and reporting on Liquidity, Interest Rate, FX open positions, Capital Adequacy, Sector and Client Concentrations) – Ensure that ALCO is aware of the structure of the Balance Sheet, alert ALCO on potential impacts of movements in interest and foreign exchange rates. Suggest changes to lending rules to manage balance sheet risks.
  • Funding Book Management / Fund Raising – Development and execution of the Bank’s funding strategy to ensure that the Bank meet commitments as they fall due. Consider pricing, tenor, rate type as well as impact on capital adequacy.
  • Maintain relationships with potential funders (Corporate Finance Houses / consultants, commercial banks, pension funds, asset managers, international DFIs)
  • Development of Annual Contingency funding plans
  • Investment Management – Ensure the Bank’s liquidity portfolio returns a yield that can offset cost of holding liquid assets, invest excess liquidity in longer dated assets without over-exposing the Bank to liquidity risk
  • Cash Flow forecasting periodically to review the adequacy of funding / liquidity. Liaise with business regularly to give them feedback on collections. Put plans in place to close future liquidity gaps / mismatches
  • Annually review ALCO policies to ensure relevance
  • Develop / recommend to other business units, strategies that can position balance sheet to benefit from or avoid losses from movements in market rates.
  • Market Intelligence – Provide strategic intelligence about market trends
  • Product Development – Advise ALCO on strategic products to take up aggressively, or slow down on depending on the impact of those products to liquidity, Interest rate risks and other risks
  • Product Pricing Management – Review the pricing of the Bank’s products in line with achieving budgeted income, ensure that products pricing adequately compensates for risk

  • Assess all assets pledged as security for loan facilities to ensure that their values and lifespan allow them to be used as security. Ensure that these assets are insured against destruction to maintain cover throughout the life of the loan facility.
  • Undertake project visits when necessary before credit assessment to see firsthand and learn more about the project so as to allow for a more informed decision.
  • Input into Credit Assessment Processes to achieve greater approval ratings and lower bad debts / defaults. Ensure that processes allow for efficient and timely credit decision making.
  • Input into the development of Credit Risk Policies to provide a framework that will guide the bank’s credit decision making.
  • Analyze different SMME markets like Agriculture, Commerce, Property etc to enable the bank to make informed credit decisions when considering funding in those sectors.
  • Input into the development of new products and services of the bank.
  • Assess loan rescheduling applications and offer advice to companies on the structure of debt that should be taken up. Advice on loan tenure, Credit Transfers, interest rate adjustments etc.
