Collaborative learning
I headed the Northside Action Group, which worked in collaboration with the Botswana-Baylor Children’s Clinical Centre of Excellence Trust (Botswana-Baylor Trust).
Our mission as the Northside Action Group was to assist and collaborate with organisations within our society, focusing on advancing the learning of students through service engagement and increasing our school community’s impact.
The Botswana-Baylor Trust was known as a national general care and treatment facility providing services in Gaborone, Botswana. They served children, adolescents, and young adults, along with their families, from across the country. Their services included treatment for HIV and associated infections and later extended to oncology care and treatment for patients nationally. They also acted as a major research hub, contributing valuable information to the international HIV and oncology communities.
The Action Group also worked with the BSPCA (Botswana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). This organisation existed to serve and protect all animals in Botswana against cruelty, to uplift their welfare and that of the communities they lived in by educating the public about essential animal care and welfare. The BSPCA also ensured that the protection animals had under Botswana law was upheld and respected.
The Northside Action Group ran annual charity drives for both of these organisations.
I head the Wellness Committee for Educators in my school community. A school wellness committee is an action-oriented advisory group that focuses on the health and well-being of staff. I have an amazing team who work together to support our educators through practices and strategies for mental, physical, social, and emotional health and wellbeing.
