Key Job Responsibilities

• Develop and implement mine design and scheduling for the project to meet operation’s medium and long term plans and deliver shafts development within budget.
• Analyses operational aspects and trends in mining industry, assessing their possible impact on our mining strategy and schedule impact on successful project delivery
• Investigates, designs and specifies placement of development drifts for different rock types as well as optimal mining efficiency.
• Initiates and conducts research into new operational methods to enhance mining and downstream efficiencies in line with industry trends.
• Currently assessing the cost benefit of combining Sub Level Caving and block Caving method to bridge production shortfall between end of Open Pit and start of Underground production.
• Researches on and coordinates Mine-to-Mill activities in the Mine and optimizing material handling system from underground to the mill.
• Manages and reviews upcoming development contract to ensure the achievement of service level contract i.e. Adjudication, reviewing technical and operational capabilities of contractors on their respective sites
• Develop and co-ordinates implementation of standards by liaising with other operations and suppliers nationally and internationally to ensure adoption of best practice in pit operations.
• Ensures compliance to statutory requirements as stipulated in the Mines, Quarries, Machinery Regulations and other statutory requirements by putting in place procedures and policies to be followed.
