• Effectively led a team of technicians to conduct acceptance wiring and testing prior to commissioning a Botswana Power Cooperation 40MVA (SGB POWER-MATLA) Transformer including performing visual inspection, electrical insulation resistance testing and operational tests during Rasesa Substation Project to ensure smooth transition from manufacture to operation.
• Successfully wired, tested and commissioned a Botswana Power Cooperation 40MVA (SGB POWER-MATLA) Transformer, increasing reliability and reducing risk of outages. Reduced overall project costs by 10% through efficient planning and execution of testing and commissioning activities during Francistown Donga Substation project. Received recognition from senior management for completing all testing and commissioning activities ahead of schedule.
• Successfully trained technicians on a new Botswana Power Cooperation 20MVA (SGB POWER-MATLA) Transformer, ensuring a smooth transition to operations. Identified areas for improvement resulting in 50% reduction in time to proficiency during Broadhurst substation project.
• Successfully attended a training Programme for programmable logic controllers (PLC) at CITF and leant how to design a PLC control unit as well as its operation and trouble shooting.
• Effectively coordinated Testing activities with construction teams at Motheo Copper Mining on (9.2MVA TOSHIBA) Transformer to ensure smooth transition from construction to operations.
• Fruitfully performed various testing and maintenance of relays and MV Breakers, switchgears at Botswana Power Cooperation, Morupule Coal Plant, Khoemacau Copper Mine, Lucara Diamond Mine and Botswana Ash to verify compliance with design specification and ensure safety and reliability of assets.
• Productively tested and maintained electrical supply system at Gaborone Private Hospital and also suggested an effective maintenance routine on transformers, RMU’s and a backup generator as I could identify faulty operation on their electrical equipment.
• As part of the maintenance team, successfully cleaned, maintained and tested a (PAUWELS-TRAFO-BELGIUM 315MVA) I was able to detect a leakage of oil on the pressure relieve valve on a transformer and recommended for a regasketing or replacement at Phokoje Sub and the team followed my recommendation the replacement saved the company from a costly outage, and it also saved us time
• Productively Led a team of engineers at Nyangagwe Hospital to adhere to strict regulations and standards of health and safety prior to work, I did this by writing a Job Safety Analysis and identifying and eliminating possible hazards and injuries so that we all have a safe work area.
• Efficiently Kept monitoring the transformer by collecting transformer oil for sampling to ensure good health of the transformer, by monitoring the condition of a transformer oil, helped prevent costly failures and damage to the transformer, this helps to keep the power system operation safely and reliable, which benefits the company and its customers.
• Successfully oversaw the training of 3 engineers, ensuring that they were proficient in operating transformer oil purification plant and ensuring smooth transition to operation.
• Effectively Practiced problem-solving steps by troubleshooting a broken equipment at Debswana Orapa Mine, I did that by gathering all equipment relevant information and identifying the problem, I developed a potential solution to the problem and tested the machine to see if my solution fixes the problem.
• Productively utilized National Electric safety Code and institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers standards to develop and execute a high voltage cable joining a Khoemacau Copper mine to keep the circuit alive, this was successfully a risk-free work because i conducted a Job Safety Analysis prior to work, this saved me and my team from being injured on site.
• Competently guided a team of technicians to conduct successful relocating of Variable Speed Drives from underground to surface at Khoemacau Copper Mine for better ventilation and also performed some electrical connections on points of termination.
• Effectively Communicated regularly and gave a constructive feed back to our customers after installing a PLC unit at Morupule process plant, this helped me build strong relationship with my customer and helped me achieve customer focus because I ensured that I respond to their needs and even exceeds their expectations.
• Replacing damaged transformer accessories to keep the transformer fit for duty.
• Successfully helped maintain safe work area by writing and obeying all given work permits and helps reduce the risk of equipment damage and reduce the likelihood of OSHA violation. This action improves productivity and efficiency of my company.
