DUTIES

• Carried out planned maintenance and breakdown repairs on trucks, buses and light duty vehicles reducing down time.
• Engine, diff and gearbox overhauls using manufacturer's specifications and occasional modification and rebuild jobs on DAF trucks and buses with a team of mechanics.
• Suspension and airbrake systems replacing and repairing components paying special attention to safety.

• Carried out engine overhauls, maintenance and general repairs on: Graders- Caterpillar, Galion and Champion
• Rollers- TLBs- Caterpillar, Case
• Carried out rebuild projects on several of trucks and machines that had been redundant in the yard and put them back to work.

DUTIES

• Learned about mine standard health and safety procedures and standard which put special emphasis on SHE.
• Stripping and assembling of engine, gearbox and final drive units familiarising with component identification and procedure of repairs.
• Used a variety of different workshop tools and equipment in vehicle, equipment and plant repairs i.e. welding, cutting, lifting and fire suppression etc.
• Worked on Loadhaul Dumpers, Dump Trucks, Underground trams, Cranes and Dozers(Wheel and Track). Also carried out repairs on light and heavy vehicles doing overhauls and repairs
• Was exposed to leadership at 3rd Year running underground shifts with semi-skilled mechanics and junior trainees.
